Help with Shadow IT detection and management

Hi all

My employer is looking to introduce Shadow IT as a service line and have tasked myself and a few others with finding a tool that can assist in identifying and managing Shadow IT. 

At the moment our main focus is on identifying devices, with a scope to cover software and cloud at a later stage. 

Does anyone know of any good programs for identifying and managing Shadow IT assets that I could research and play around with? Bonus points if the tool has an ability to approve/deny requests for application installation.

Google the term "shadow it" and follow the crumbs.  

Most of the authors would always reference their sponsors.

I have tried this but so far can only find tools that seem to focus mostly
on cloud.

A properly configured Cisco Umbrella deployment will allow you to identify which assets in your organization are using external services commonly associated with Shadow IT. It does so by monitoring all DNS requests and assigning them in categories.
