Network delay and PoP

We are planning to implement a IDS with many sensors in our remote worldwide offices and a central VMS console settled in our main data center.

The sensors will report their events to the VMS and to a local Event Viewer also.

The problem is that although there is available bandwidth between the remote sites and de central VMS, there is a considerable delay (200ms delay = 400ms RTT).

Do you think that postoffice protocol (PoP) will be damaged by this delay?

No. If you start getting PO route down/up alarms you can increase the PO heartbeat

interval (default is 5 seconds). PO uses heartbeat messages and data messages to determine if a route is up or down. If PO does not receive a message in 3 times the heartbeat interval (default 15 seconds) then a route down alarm will be sent and the connection will be automatically restarted.
