Oracle slow behind firewall

Inside network 10.x.x.x

For Oracle server doing straight 1 to 1 NAT

I recently placed my Oracle box behind my PIX. Without the PIX when I connect directly to the database with something such as SQL plus it is almost instant. With the PIX it takes 15 seconds or more. Once the connection is made it is fine. We have applications that connect with the Oracle database using the client which causes the apps to take some time to start up. fixup is being used for 1521. I tried removing the fixup which broke being able to connect to Oracle. Anyone seen this and fixed?
