Does PIX drop active connections when policies are saved?

Nope. Any new connections will be subject to the new policies once they are enacted on the PIX but connections that have already been allowed will continue to pass through the PIX unless manually cleared (ie clear connection).

Not unless you do "clear xlat". the active connections will remain, unless they timeout.
