SDM 2.2.1 generating icmp alert to itself when logging on

Why does SDM 2.2.1 generate an icmp message to itself when logging onto a 3825 router?

I've experienced that when the login window "Password Needed - Networking" is filled in with the username and password and you select "Yes" I see that an icmp message is sent from the router logging onto to the same address (itself), what causes this and why does SDM induce the icmp message to itself?

is the ICMP sent from the router to itself? Or to the PC running SDM ?

What is the ICMP type and code? Can you capture such a packet and provide it in pcap format?
