Hi all,
I start to learning about SNMP, and I want to understand more about the role that the MIB and OID take in the SNMP messages.
MIB is a library of OIDs (like a tree), and the OID shows the specific path of parameter in the MIB (if I understood it right). I don't understand if in the messages all the MIB is sending, or only specific OID. I also not sure who send the messages that include MIB/OIDs– the NMS, the agents, or every one of them? And where the value of every OID is saved for example, if the NMS wants to know if the port is 'up' or 'down', so where the value of 'up' or 'down' is saved? Maybe the MIB include the OID's value?
I don't understanding the process of the communication between the NMS and the agents, so if someone can explain me it clearly, I be very thankful.
