SPAN reflector feature for FWSM details

Hi,

Now, we are using one source SPAN session for IDS/IPS and the second is used for the SPAN reflector feature. This feature is described in FWSM configuration guide: "This feature enables multicast traffic

(and other traffic that requires central rewrite engine) to be switched when coming from the FWSM. The

SPAN reflector feature uses one SPAN session. To disable this feature, enter the following command:

Router(config)# no monitor session servicemodule"

We want to use the second SPAN session for troubleshooting and so to disable this feature. So I want to know which traffic precisely could be affected?

Regards,

Andrey, CCNP,CCSP.

Generally routing happens through Cisco IOS and CPU.Central rewrite means instead of accumulating the CPU with more load the packets to be routed are rewritten to ASIC[Hardware] which would be much more faster. So ultimately the traffic affected is all the Centrally rewritten traffic.
