testing a firewall

I have installed and configured a ASA firewall and perimeter router for a business. How can I test to make sure that there are no vulnerabilities? On the ASA, I understand an out going message from inside the firewall leaves a port opened and that port closes in 2 minutes by default if there has not been a return message. How can I test if a port has been permanently opened? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Use a port scanner like Nmap to scan the IP addresses on your Outside interface.
