Upgrading 4210 pre-4.0 to version 4.1x

Hi,

Is it possible to upgrade a CIDS 4210 running a pre-4.0 version to 4.1x using the Recovery CD? I can't find any info on CCO on how to "upload" the contents of the CD to the IDS. I thought that Cisco would have to send you the hard drive with version 4.0 in order to get to 4.1x. Please advise. Thank you all.

Yes, it is possible to upgrade a 4210 to 4.1 using the 4.1 recovery cd.

To do so, you simply need to reboot the sensor with CD in the drive and the update to 4.x occurs.

ALSO - the 4210 requires a memory upgrade in order to work with 4.x.

Please read the following field notice on how to obtain the memory upgrade:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_field_notice09186a00801a2e21.shtml

Please let us know if you have any questions.

thanks

I have a 4210 running 3.0(5)S17 and would like to upgrade to latest and greatest. I have purchased additonal memory to get 512k.I was hoping to use the 4.0(1)S37 or 4.1(1)S47 upgrade CD. I need bias version A04 to do this. I currently have BIOS TR440bxa.86b.0045.P17 running on a Intel (R) Celeron (TM). How can I get the bios upgraded so I can proceed with the Recovery CD? Thanks for your help,

Mike

Mike,

I replied to your other post, but I will re-iterate here for those who haven't seen it.

You do not need a BIOS upgrade to run 4.x code on your IDS-4210. We have updates available for the IDS-4235/4250 platforms, and for the IDS-4215 platform, but not for the -4210.
