I'm preparing for the CCIE examination and i need to know what is Remote Data Exchange Protocol (RDEP)? I'm trying to find it on the cisco website but to no clear document that explains what it is.

Please give me clear documentations that explains RDEP in detail. Your help very much appreciated.

Hi Ian,

The event-server, transaction-server and iplog-server servlets communicate using the Remote Data Exchange Protocol (RDEP), which is a specific use of the HTTP protocol. RDEP serves as the sensor?s external communication protocol that replaces Postoffice. Like HTTP, RDEP is a request/response protocol. An external client such as IEV initiates an alert event request that blocks until the specified events are available or until a timeout occurs. Additionally, applications respond to control transactions that are initiated remotely (by a management console for example) and communicated using RDEP.
