Launching and connecting to our corporate VPN, the client terminates all communication over both the local network and VPN. After the client is closed, all communication (TCP/IP) is restored.
What can I do to resolve this porblem?

Check to see if the address being assigned to you by the vpn concentrator is not the same as in your local network. Enable the logs on the client, set the filters to high, and enable the capture. This would give you an indicator at least. Also what is the connection method, ie dsl, dial-up ? If dsl, what pppoe
software you are using?

The address being assigned is not the same as my local network. I will enable the loggs, although the vpn client continues to say that the connection is present, but all local network, Internet and WAN communications are disabled. I am connecting through DSL, the PPOE is resident in the Linksys router, but I also attempted to connect through dial-up from a hotel and when I started the VPN, the phone connection was killed. Any help at all is appreciated!
