Your welcome.

hey cehill,

i got one more issue.

i.e.,

High CPU Utilization on ASA 5520 Version 9.1(6)

FW# sh cpu
CPU utilization for 5 seconds = 78%; 1 minute: 86%; 5 minutes: 87%

could you please help me to resolve this issue...

thank you,

Giri dangi

Hey Giri,

Try entering the following command to see which process is causing it.

show processes cpu-usage sorted non-zero

FW# show processes cpu-usage sorted non-zero
PC         Thread       5Sec     1Min     5Min   Process
0x0829be8c   0x6edd4e74    89.7%    90.4%    90.4%   Dispatch Unit
0x0914652c   0x6edcb230     2.9%     3.1%     3.0%   Logger
0x090f9bdd   0x6edce7b4     0.2%     0.0%     0.0%   ssh
0x087bf1ee   0x6edc04cc     0.2%     0.2%     0.2%   ARP Thread

its dispatch unit issue

ASA is probably being overwhelmed by high volume of traffic.

If you have monitoring software that monitors network, you can look for the top talker and that may be your culprit.

Do a show interface and look for errors.

Do a show traffic and verify if any interfaces have a high volume of traffic flowing through it.

You can look in the syslog or syslog collector, if you are using one, and see whats going on.

According to a Cisco doc, a common problem is due to a traffic loop when vpn clients disconnect.  Here is a link that gives solutions to the problem.

Here is another cisco doc(monitoring and troubleshooting ASA)

Hope this helps...

Hey cehill,

do you have any idea how to mitigate dispatch issue?

any special command for this?

Thank you

Giri dangi

You'll have to determine cause before you mitigate the issue.  The commands and links that I listed above are a start.

thank you cehill

If you would like more input on the ASA trouble, you may want to start another discussion.

Since this is marked answered, you may not get a lot of views, plus Security guys may not view it, since its listed as a ios upgrade.
