Hi, I am working for a bank, we have ATMs connected using a SNA connection directly to the Tandem, in the ATM side is a SNA card connected to a Cisco Serial, and in the Host Side is a Token Ring Network, we are using DataLink Switching to do that.
We are developing a system that will send images and promos to the ATMs, but it is running over Ethernet.
Do you know what can we do to access all the ATMs connected in the SNA network from the Ethernet network to be able to send images and promos to the OS/32 ATM.
Is that posible?
In Tcp/Ip ATMs is pretty simple, we will develop a client to receive the images.

I doubt that the ATM (automatic teller machine rather than asynchronous transfer mode) will be able to download files over its SDLC link unless it comes from the mainframe anyway, which is probably not the case with the files you want to download, right?
The second issue is, will the ATM software be able to handle these downloads or is it simply running a transation based application?
I would recommend that you contact your ATM manufacturer to find out what is possible to do at that point.
Hope this helps,

Yes, I want to setup a middleware system to send those files that will represents a promotional campaign.
Nowadays we are using text screens thats why we want to send those files using the network to be more interactive the use of the ATM.
I just want to understand if there is a way to do a kind of bridge between the Ethernet Network and the SNA Network, and be able to see an SNA ATM mapped to a Nat IP.
I know the the Cisco encapsulates the SNA Traffic using IP, and the BiSync do a kind of mapping.
To change a text screen to a Image screen we just need to send the script to the ATM that will indicate to load the images in the screen instead of the simple text.
The solution of the ATM Manufacturer is very expensive, more than 1 million dollars, they are out of the standar.

Luis,
In my view, It is not a question of bridging the technologies at layer2 but much more of whether the application can do it or not. What protocol can you use on the ATM do file transfer, if any.
The other thing is that the ATM probably only handles SNA as a protocol to communicate with remote devices.
What application were you planning to use on the remote device. Can this remote device on the ethernet network communicate with the ATM using SNA?
Hope this helps,
