Do Cisco switch will allow the PPPoE frame

Hi,

I have the below requirement in QA of my product evaluation,

Client ------> Switch -----> Server (PPPoE)

In the above topology my server is Ubuntu and I have configured the PPPoE on the server to listen on particular interface and the client is configured with PPP information to connect.

1. If I connect client directly to the server then the client connects successfully to the PPPoE server via the PPPoE credentials.

2. If I connect the client and server via the switch on the same VLAN then Client Keeps waiting for PADO packets and timing out.

My question is will the PPPoE frames are allowed to travel on the Switch as like ARP or DHCP Discover message.? Please advice.

Below is my switch version for reference:

ROM: Bootstrap program is C3560 boot loader
BOOTLDR: C3560 Boot Loader (C3560-HBOOT-M) Version 12.2(44)SE5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Hello,

Switches pass PPPoE frames just like any other traffic. If your client is unable to connect using PPPoE to the server through the switch then the configuration of the switch will need to be inspected in more detail.

Is it possible for you to post the complete running configuration of the switch?

Best regards,
Peter
