DS3 per-packet Load-sharing???

Problem Details: I am trying to do per-packet load sharing across two DS3 circuits to

achieve 88Mb aggregate.

Attempting to use per-packet load sharing on the DS3 interfaces results in

dangerously high cpu utilization.

CEF load sharing appears to be supported only on 7200/7500 platform...

Q1. Is per-packet load sharing on DS3's even a realistic goal on this platform...

Q2. Is there any other way to aggregate DS3's (other than an Imux) that I

am not aware of?

You should be able to do multilink PPP. This may or may not use even more CPU.

CEF load-sharing is supported on more than the 7200/7500 series and I suspect it is on the 7140 too.

Did you configure the per-packet on the outgoing interfaces?

Other than that you may want to consider upgrading the router. The 7140 is end of life and if you have that much traffic it is probably with having a newer / more capable router....
