Help with assignment - any help or advice appreciated

Hi all

I’m in a bit of a pickle and could really use some guidance. I’m a beginner in Cisco Packet Tracer and my assignment (final) requires me to design a fully wireless network that has three floors - Ground, first, and second each with a different number of PCs and printers. Each wireless has an ip address of 192.168.0.250 - 192.168.2.250

To make sure I understood the basics, I first built a wired model.

  • Three WRT300N wireless routers one per floor connected to a central Cisco 2911 router (Admin).
  • The Admin router handled DHCP pools for each subnet.
  • MAC address filtering was usedon the WRT300Ns as per assessment requirement.

Proved to me this challenge could be tackled irl and with practical sense

The real challenge now is converting this into a fully wireless setup as per the assignment requirements. This means the WRT300Ns  should connect wirelessly to the Admin router for routing without using wired links. doesnt matter who does the DCHP pooling

I’ve searched a lot. YT, online tutorials, even tried ChatGPT, Deepseek  but haven’t found a practical approach in Cisco PT to achieve this. I am stuck at am impasse and since the project is due on Monday, I’m running out of time.

If anyone here could point me in the right direction (whether it’s which modules to use, how to configure the Admin router for wireless or how to link the WRT300Ns to it properly) I’d be extremely grateful. These marks are the difference between a Distinction and just scraping a Pass and in my country, its the difference between a being 6 feet under or a pat on the back.

I’ll attach the .pkt file of my wired model below for reference. (ZIP file, contains nothing else I swear)
Please let me know if you need more details about the configuration.

Thank you very much, even if you read up till this far.

Best regards,
John

Right now I'm not able to read your pkt file.

What you need to configure is a wireless bridge or were less mesh to connect the floors to the main network.

If the 2911 is aversion with wifi you can configure this as the master.

If it has not you may need another WRT router to assign the master role.

Heya,

Sorry for the late reply. Been busy with other assignments

Its fine, really, scraped a High pass (80% + ) on my work. Turns out the assignment only meant that the end device connection had to be wireless, which was really confusing since:

"You are required to design a network in Cisco Packet tracer for the below requirement, the IP
addresses should be given through DHCP. The entire network must be wireless and with MAC
addressing filtering to ensure that only the devices in the company has access to network."

Wirelessly connected end devices with the WRT Router with a central backbone (wired) that gave out DHCP. Used a multi-layer switch for fun too. Anyways, i really appreciate you taking the time to actually provide me with some help at all. Be forever grateful for you.

Thanks again, peiterh!!
