I have a 3500XL switch with IOS 12.0. I'm trying to connect the Cisco Network Assistant. When I try to run the command "ip http server" it accepts the command but then doesn't show up in the running config.
Does anyone know how I can get this command to stick or get the CNA to connect?

The main reason why commands that you enter (and receive no error response) do not show up in running config is that the command that you entered is already the default behavior. Typically default values do not show up in show running. Can you tell us what happens when you attempt to connect using CNA?

Can you verify that you have IP connectivity between the IP on your PC and the address on the switch that you are attempting to connect to? (can you ping the switch IP address)
Can you verify that you have Network Assistant installed on your PC and that it starts without issue on your PC? Can you verify that you are attempting a regular HTTP connection rather than HTTPS?

We can ping the switch, Network Assistant starts fine and connects to other switches in the environment, and we are using a http connection.

Thank you for the answers to my questions. This eliminates several potential causes of the problem. Would you post the output of show version and of the content of flash?

Thank you for the outputs. Can you post the directory of flash from one of the switches where it does work? And can you post the entries in the sub directory htlm of this switch?

Hello,
on a side note, according to the release notes, the 3500 XL is considered a legacy device and not supported at all in CNA...
Legacy Devices
These devices are not supported by Network Assistant:
Catalyst 2900 XL switches
Catalyst 3500 XL switches
C1700 Series Modular Access Routers
02-13-2018 03:17 PM
I am not sure if this should be called a side note :)
Depending on the version of code they are running and the version of CNA they have, it sounds to me like this is the explanation of the problem they are having.

They're running CNA 6.1 currently, the switch is WS-C3508G-XL, and were able to connect previously. I'm starting to think that they were on version 5.x and either updated the program or the automatic updates upgraded it to 6.1, which wouldn't support the switch.

Thank you for being responsive and posting information that we requested. I had hoped that comparing a switch that did work to this one that does not work would reveal some difference. But it did not. So I went to the release notes for Cisco Network Assistant. I find that release notes for both version 6 and version 5 are explicit that 3500XL is not supported. I do not know what they were running when it did work, but clearly with current versions it is not supported.
