Hi everyone

Is it possible to have two asbrs on two areas which advertising default route to their areas. for example R1 is in area 0 and has default route to internet and advertise default route to area 0. R2 is in area 1 and advertise default route to area 1 and these areas doesnt receive any default route from each other.

how can I do that?

Hello @ectssamsectssams5825 ,

make area 1 an NSSA area then also have the R60 to advertise an LSA type 7 with no-propagate option so that ABR will not translate it to area 0

Hope to help

Hello,

do you mean ASBRs or ABRs ? Post a schematic drawing showing what you want to accomplish.

I mean Asbr.

default route for area 0 R61

default route for area 1 R60

config

default-information originate metric-type 1

this make internal in Area 0 select the default toward ASBR area 0

and internal in Area 1 select the default toward ASBR area 1

metric-type 1 cost is equal to sum of all link cost to ASBR.

but if R61 fails, area 0 use R60 as default route and whole traffic goes to R60

you will get redundancy also.

but NSSA is complete isolate the area default gateway.
