Policy Base Routing

Dear all Cisco Experts,

I just want to ask you that,

is PBR only work on Broadcast Network or it will work on Point 2 point network also?

R6 is connected with R1

R1 is connected with R2 & R3 through Switch in same subnet

R1 also have P2P connectivity with R2 & R3 by using different subnet.

R2& R3 is connected with R4

all routers are configured with Ospf in area 0

now I have configured on R1 that some routes come from R6 will go through R2

& remaining routes will go through R3 to destined for routes of R4 (loopback)

Now the problem is that,

If I connect these routers R1 R2 & R3 in Broadcast network (via switch) then the assigned Policy will work.

but If I connect these three routers in point 2 point network then it is not working.

I mean as per policy If i shut down the interface of R2 then the routes which are assigned for this router will not to be able to reach R4.

but in point to point network R1 send these routes via R3 when R2 is unable to send th routes.

please give me the solution.

for topology reference please follow the link below

Hi,

PBR is working on P2P, Point-to-multipoint and on braodcast network types.

you should be using the verify-reachability track feature  when setting the next-hop in your PBR config

and set the other next-hop in case the first one is unreachable.
