Problems applying security k9

After applying my PAK on license/go - I received a file to apply to my CIsco 1100 ISR. The file ends in a .lic.

But when I look at instructions on applying the license the command references a file ending .xml. (see URL)

I don't see anywhere that says "rename your lic to xml". Anyhow - frustrating that there's not a simplier

way to activate this feature. Have wasted time. Can someone advise on how I can get the license activated?
Also do I need to be concerned with Smart Licensing? I just want to be able to have "crypto map" etc

work on my ISR.

Post the complete output to the command "sh license udi" and "sh inventory" (first page only).

Router#sh license udi
SlotID PID SN UDI
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* C1111-8P FGL2334216W C1111-8P:FGL2334216W

Router#sh inventory

License file is for an appliance with the serial number of "FGL2327276W".
Serial number of the unit is "FGL2334216W".
They DO NOT MATCH.

Oh - I had anonymized the serial number in the original post. But in replying to your question I realized the serial doesn't reveal much.

Is the command I'm entering correct? I can't find a manual that mentions the .lic file - only .xml. TY
