reordering a running-config to copy paste into another device.

Is there any EASY way, or SIMPLE form/format/instruction that will tell me the proper format, inclusion/exclusion, and order of the commands that should populate a 'startup-config' file (actually this was the running-config output from another similar router that i was using), so that it will easily copy & paste wholesale into a serial console connection via Putty (at 9600/8/1/N/No), and not give error these messages below?

... % Invalid input detected at '^' marker

(there is still the other issue -with using copy/paste into a serial Putty session -like no delay control over character, or line/command send rate, other than the 9600 bps speed setting, that i know of)

It's not clear to me why the SH RUN (or SH START for that matter) would not order the commands properly to begin with, nor how to determine which in the SH RUN text output is router generated and should not be included in a startup-config.

thanks in advance.

I am sure that there are aspects of your situation that I do not understand. But you ask a direct question "is there any EASY way, or SIMPLE form/format/instruction that will tell me the proper format, inclusion/exclusion, and order of the commands" and the answer is NO there is not any EASY or SIMPLE way. The output of show run looks like a text file, but the running config is actually a dynamic data structure that the device builds. Startup config is a text file that Cisco constructs the when input to the config process will accurately rebuild the data structure for running config. The process of doing that is neither easy or simple.

The problem with doing a cut and paste of the text file to input it to the config process (especially if you are on a console connection) is that your computer will transfer text more quickly than the Cisco device can process it and you will get buffer over run. The solution is to either transfer small amounts of text or to slow down the rate at which you transmit the text.
