Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense, Version 7.2.x offers improved performance and heightened security through all new features and enhancements. Key offerings include:

1. Evolved industry standards: Powered by Snort 3, this release sets new benchmarks in the industry. It offers superior visibility and performance, the option to enhance threat detection, and application visibility into TLS1.3 and QUIC traffic without the need for decryption, thanks to the Encrypted Visibility Engine (EVE).

2. Expanded capabilities: This release offers enhanced branch WAN capabilities such as intelligent path selection and direct internet access. It provides simplified security for remote workers, featuring advanced posture assessment, password-less authentication, and a new unified client for a seamless experience.

3. Extensive fixes and enhancements: The latest maintenance updates include hundreds of fixes, particularly in the 7.2.x version, addressing vulnerabilities and other issues. The product has tripled its automation system test scenarios and doubled regression test suites between versions 7.0 and 7.4.

By utilizing these features and enhancements, users can expect a more secure and efficient system.

To fully benefit from the new features and resolved issues of the Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense, Version 7.2.x, it is highly recommended that you upgrade all eligible appliances to at least the suggested release, including any patches.

  1. Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) is now Secure Firewall Threat Defense.
  2. Firepower Threat Defense Virtual (FTDv) is now Secure Firewall Threat Defense Virtual.
  3. Firepower Device Manager (FDM) is now Secure Firewall Device Manager.
  4. Firepower Management Center (FMC) is now Secure Firewall Management Center.
  5. Firepower Management Center Virtual (FMCv) is now Secure Firewall Management Center Virtual.
  6. Firepower eXtensible Operating System (FXOS) is now Secure Firewall eXtensible Operating System (FXOS).
  7. Firepower Chassis Manager is now Secure Firewall Chassis Manager.
