Suppressing traps in SDA environment

Please take a look at the below question about SNMP configurations in SDA env.

[Question]

After provisioning a device from DNAC, all types of SNMP traps are enabled on the device. Is it supported to disable unnecessary types of traps individually from Template Editor or CLI? (We assume that this would probably cause side effect in Assurance feature. )

What we tested in our lab is as follows;

1. Discovery : Cat9300 (as fabric edge)

2. Assign device to site : All SNMP traps are configured to the device from DNAC.

3. Provision (select Template) : Unnecessary types of traps individually disabled by using a Template Editor during Provisioning.

As a result, it seems the "no snmp trap xyz" configurations were effective.

[Background]

In our environment, there are dedicated Syslog/SNMP servers configured other than DNAC. (DNAC itself is configured to be syslog/snmp servers as well)

As those servers receive ALL traps generated by the devices, we would like to suppress number of traps that are not important to the operations team.

DNAC version is 1.2.10 , Cat9300a runs IOS-XE16.9.3

Disabling the syslog and traps would have issues in DNAC Assurance.

DNAC Assurance will not be able to detect in case of your network issues.
