Boot from SAN LUN ID should be 0

In UCS blade boot from SAN.  LUN ID should be zero from Storage ? please advice me on LUN ID for boot from SAN or any LUN ID is allowed to boot from SAN.

We are using VNX 5200 storage box.

as long as you match Host ID in VNX with correct LUN ID in UCS profile is will work. But it's best practice to use Host ID 0. On my VMAX i had gatekeepers occupying Host ID 0 so my actual Boot from SAN device was mapped to Host ID 1.  That's what i specified in my UCS profile and works just fine.

yes, on VNX platform the very first LUN in storage group always gets assigned Host ID 0.

Yes, you are right.

For Booting from SAN will work only with LUN ID - 0 or any LUN ID can be assign for boot from SAN.

Kindly advice.

Thanks for the reply.

So LUN ID - is not problem to boot from SAN, we need to match the LUN ID in the UCS booting profile and in VNX need to  add right LUN ID  and HOST ID in storage group.

Please correct me if I am wrong. If you have any document or URL link to explain the same please share with us.

That's correct. On EMC support site take a look at host connectivity guide. I know they talk about boot from San but I don't remember if they specifically mention UCS.
