Cisco MDS 9216i connection issue

Hi,

I am having 2 Cisco MDS 9216i for SAN replication. In one site the cisco 9216i is connected to Cisco 4506 Switch via Gigabitethernet and working fine. On other side I am not able to get the gigabitethernet up and running.It stucks in the initializing modem,so even layer 2 is not coming up. We are having Cisco 2950 and Cisco 3550 with gigbitethernet modules with LX and SX modules.Is it something to do with the Cisco Switch compatibility. Or some configuration needs to be done for low end switches.Also if I can get the list of Cisco switche compatabile with Cisco MDS 9216i for gigabitethernet connectivity.

I have a couple of questions :

- did you try to connect to the switch thru console ?

- what exactly was going on during the time you faced this issue. i.e were you working on the switch ?
