I am working to replace the Hyperchannel for OS390. I looked FICON Directors from MC-Data, I am wondering if MDS Switches support the FICON protocol.
Can anybody help me out on this.
Thanks

The FICON protocol requires the Mainframe license. SAN OS 1.3(4a)on a 9216 or 9500 series.
My next question is I saw somewhere that the 32 port blade is not supported. What blades are specifically supported for FICON??

There was a testing issue years ago at IBM getting the DS-X9032 qualified for FICON. I am not sure it was sorted out, IBM would know. It could have been put on the not so important list because not long after the focus was moved to the newer 4Gbps modules. All the 4Gbps modules (12,24 & 48 port) are supported for FICON.
