Hello there.
I recently discovered that one of the temperature sensors on my MDS9148S switch was not working properly.
* Part of the 'show environment' command
Temperature:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Module Sensor MajorThresh MinorThres CurTemp Status
(Celsius) (Celsius) (Celsius)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Outlet1 (s1) 75 60 29 Ok
1 Outlet2 (s2) 75 60 28 Ok
1 Intake1 (s3) 75 60 27 Ok
1 Intake2 (s4) n/a n/a n/a Failure
1 FC-SOC1 (s5) 115 105 35 Ok
As the text above shows, I can't check the information of 'intake2', and I tried rebooting several times, but the information still doesn't come out.
I want to ask Cisco for service, but since the service contract period has expired, I can't get help, so I want to solve it myself, but I don't know the physical location of the sensor.
Is there any way to know the physical location and component information of this sensor?

MDS9148S hardware documentation indicates temperature sensors are within the fan trays.
"Hot-swappable fan tray with integrated temperature and power management"
There are 4 fan modules. I am guessing here and take no responsibilty for the following: Fan tray 4 could be where the failed sensor is: Intake2 (s4) n/a n/a n/a Failure. Another method of finding which fan tray has the sensor is to remove each fan module (one at a time), if permissible in your environment.
