Port Channel Exchange Based Load Balancing

Hi all.

With exchange-based load balancing, how is the link within the port-channel selected for each exchange? Is it round robin or is there something more intelligent?

We are using FCIP with two links with diverse routes. So the port-channel has 2 members, one with a rtt latency of 4ms and one with 14ms. Will half of the frames encur the 14ms latency or will more traffic use the lower-latency link?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Allan.

the port channel does not change the load balancing behaviour, it just makes your network more resilient to topology changes.

So the load balancing would be exchange-based (src/dest/oxid) or flow based (src/dest). This parameter is configurable per VSAN.

The latency is not a parameter anywhere.

Regards,

Michael
