query is related to SFP modules

Hi,

We are planning to take Nexus 7000 with F2e cards ( N7K-F248XP-25E ) to connect our Storage. The query is related to SFP modules.

Nexus supports SFP-10G-SR or LR modules and our Storage ( Isilon EMC2) is recommending Finisar ( make ) with Model FTLX8571D3BCL SR SFPs.

Can I have SFP-10G-SR module at F2e card end and Finisar Model FTLX8571D3BCL SR at storage end for a single cable?

Will there is any issue with Nexus 7000 F2e cards, if I use the connection like this? ( FYI, if it works then we are going to use around 110 connections with different modules in each cable ends)

I also checking this with Storage Enggs.

Can anyone suggest me on this?

Thanks

On the Cisco side, check

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/10GE_Tx_Matrix.html

I think there will be no interop issue with the Finisar SFP+ on the peer side.

Hi Walter,

I think the same.. there wont be any interop issue with the Finisar SFP+ on the other end of the same cable for the storage (one end with SFP-10G-SR for F2e card ), but I am  looking for the confirmation bcoz it should not be a problem once the equipment is ordered.

I discussed with Cisco suppliers too.. they are supposed to advice on Cisco devices only not on the other part.

Have you come across this kind of connectivity ever?

Thanks

Hi

If it's optical (e.g. SR) on both sides, I see no problem at all.

The situation is challenging for twinax cables (active and passive); here you have Cisco on both ends; and is this EMC certified or not.

Walter.
