I see. So what I need is a special cable that connects the Aux Port in a different way than a Console cable. Thanks so far. Is there a pre-manufactured cable from Cisco (or someone else) for the purpose of connecting modems that use a DB-9 connector?

Thank you. But that section is about DB-25 ports, while my router (which is a 2600) has a RJ45 aux port.According to the document you point at, section 15, the pinouts for aux and console ports are identical.http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/rou...
