Since we configured port security our printers are dropping out of the mac-address-table and getting lpr and snmp communications errors. A ping will bring it back online but only temporarily. Any ideas?

Trying to use wake on lan, doesn't work after arp table times out (weekends). Should we increase timeout by that much? Another suggestion was to allow directed broadcast of only the UDP port 4725 from only the vlan sending the wake on lan packet. ...

Disabling the aging time has resolved the problem in most places, trying to determine the difference in a site that still had problems with it disabled.

Thanks, I guess there's more than one way to use wake on lan, we haven't had to change anything to make it work as long as the arp table is populated. We'll try the increased timeout in a small portion of the network and see what happens.

I've done many conversions from hybrid to native IOS. It is time consuming and cumbersome, and since I prefer IOS, I'd recommend it from the start. We've been running IOS on our core 6509s for several years and haven't had any problems so far.
