In the past, you need to use sub-interfaces when associating a vlan to a router interface. With service instance you don't need to do that anymore. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the response! I later found out that this is caused by the license. For ASA, there is webvpn license (for 2 users) comes with the box. But for PIX which is upgraded from 6.x, we need to pay extra for the webvpn license.
