Hi,Thanks for the comment.After SPAN is configured with destination port ingress enabled one cannot connect or ping the portable even if Ethereal is not running.Could it be the a NIC driver limitation?As soon as possible I will swap portables around ...

Hi Ankur,I appreciate all your help so far with this.Does the NIC on the portable need any special or enhanced drivers. The second portable that I cannot see on the network does not have the General Network Sniffer sotware withits enhanced NIC driver...
