Why does OSPF install host routes to neighbors for point-to-multipointnetworks ? why is not installed in case of Non-broadcast networks ?

Try enabling per packet load balancing on u'r incoming interface.command is "ip load-sharing per-packet"

Just keep in mind 8540 is not a switch and make sure u put same vlans ina bridge otherwise u might end up doing bridging across VLAN's

If u'r routing protocol converges faster then u'r router would send a pim jointo its new RPF neighbor without much delay.
