I already tried to use the tar method, including the comparison of the md5 checksums and it's the same problem. I even tried copying over the image from a working switch, but to no avail.

Correct, but it does start with uncompressing the 15.0(2) image, but after uncompressing it, it just goes to the next image. I also tried to use the tar image instead of the bin image, but that doesn't help either. I've already verified md5 checksums...
