In the PDM got to the tools menu then select comand line interface. Here you can enter reload noconfirm.This will allow the pix to reload through the PDM.Hope this helps
Yes you should be able to tftp to a server on the outside. I have 6 PIXs doing this. Make sure that if the tftp server you are using if behind another firewall allow the tftp port through to it.
From my experiance the switch ports on the 501 cant be configured. They are all the same and considered to be the inside int.Hope this answers you question.
