Show ip int brief does work on NXOS giving you routed interface IPs and status, however you may be looking for the 'show int status' command which will list all interfaces along with name/status/vlan/duplex/etc.

Hi Peter, I'd say you may want to look into the new Nexus 6004, just announced a few weeks ago. It is 4RU expandable up to 96 40G QSFP. Or there is a 6001 model also but if you need higher port density, the 6004 might be the way to go. Not sure of...
I had the same exact problem running 8.0(2) code, after I upgraded to 8.0(4) the problem was fixed. Sounds like the bug maybe back with 8.2(1) or the security plus license isn't activated properly.
