Hi Shanfrancis, Apologies for the late response. I can see the highest cpu utilization is IP Input Process, it means too many packets punt to cpu. You can capture the below commands if you see high CPU again and share the detail #show log #show proc cpu sort | ex 0.00% #show platform health #show plat cpu packet statistics #show interface | include line|\drops (3 times in gap of few min) #debug platform packet all receive buffer – This command doesn’t impact the performance and will helpful to know the packet which pun to CPU #show platform cpu packet buffered Regards, Aru

Hi Shanfrancis, The "K2L2 Address Table R" process is related to L2 entries and adjacency updates. The learning of MAC addresses on this box is done in software, so if we keep on learning too many mac addresses you will see a spike of CPU on this process. This may happen in the following conditions: Constant receipt of spanning tree topology change BPDUs: on PVST that reduces cam aging and you will see entries being deleted too fast, on rapid-PVST/MST this flushes the entries. Overall a number of entries may need to be deleted/added again. Make sure you have "switchport host" configured on ports which directly connect to end devices. This will avoid TCN generation when a workstation reboots. Mac-address moves: where a user will move from one port to another or a mac address may be looping in the network. Hi, Cisco 3560 switch and 4000 series switches has different hardware architecture, we cant expect the same behavior on both switches CPU utilization can become high due to two reasons 1. Processes taking up resources 2. Hi, The first switches (made by Kalpana, who was later bought by Cisco). Kalpana was the first, and they did it with custom proprietary hardware. The store-and-forward was much higher latency through the switch. Then Cisco came out with "Fragment Free" switching - meaning that the switch would accept the first 64 bytes, evaluate it, then forward it. By getting at least 64 bytes, the switch could guarantee the the frame was not a runt (runt is a frame < 64bytes, the minimum permissable Ethernet frame size), and could make sure that the addresses were not corrupt. I remember that the catalyst 1924 is set for fragment-free switching which was very old switch. Hi, The switch 2960 always uses the store-and-forward method: complete packets are stored and checked for errors before transmission. There is no need to configure the switching method. Hi Wajid, Based on your input i could see that there is Hulc LED Process process which is utilizing more CPU than the other. The below Bug matching this behavior presently, CSCsi78581 - Hulc LED Process uses 10-15% CPU on Catalyst 3750/3560 This issue has been observed in 3560X/3750X with PoE, running 12.2(53)SE1 release This is normal behavior. One can expect that the overall CPU utilization will be between 25 – 35%. Plugging PoE devices into all ports on a 3750-X switch will cause the CPU utilization to increase however it will remain in the normal 25 – 35% range. This doesnt cause any impact If you see any issue still, please capture the below commands and share for the further analysis, #show processes cpu sort | ex 0.00% #show processes cpu history #show platform port-asic stats drop #show controllers cpu-interfaces #show log #show version Feel free to call me if you need more clarification.
