Cisco VPN causing slow modem

When connected via dialup modem without Cisco VPN running but intalled on a Dell laptop causes freezing in OS WinXP in 2 second intervals. When the Cisco VPN is uninstalled the modem works fine. How can I resolve this issue?Thanks in advance,Byron
