We have a number of Catalyst 1924C switches that we need to uplink toCatalyst 2960G switches via viber. We want to use the fiber uplinks on the 1924Cs to the SFP connections on our Catalyst 2960Gs. When we connect the fiber cable (SC to LC multimod...
Long time reader here but first time poster. I am looking into upgrading our network switches soon and I'm trying to decide on a design now. Let me give some background information on the network. Currently we have a Catalyst 5513 with a Superviso...
We've acquired a Catalyst 5505 switch with a Supervisor III NFFC-II card from one of our other locations. Were not sure what the last admin did to it but now when we boot the switch it boots up and the System Status is ready (green) but the Active l...
We've had this problem for quite some time now but never seem to be able to find a fix for it. We have about 20-30 HP JetDirect boxes that unless data is sent to them almost constantly they will not respond to any IP traffic. Once they stop respond...

Thank you both for your input. I have revised our layout to provide redundancy in the core as you suggested and also adding an access layer for the servers. We will probably have an increase in the amount of servers over the next few years so addin...
Well we got the switch to power up. Instead of using a console cable that we use on a Cat 2900 we used a normal Cat5 cable instead. As soon as we booted the switch it came on and started displaying the boot sequence. Now the weird part is that unl...
Thanks for the info. Stuff gets moved around in that area pretty frequently so using static address won't work too well for us. One last question. These are 1900 switches. Do they need to be restarted for this to take effect?
Right after I posted this I found that setting on the Cat1900 switch. I changed it to just over 1 week. I'll be monitoring it to see if that solves the problem. It makes sense though since the JetDirect boxes don't initiate any kind of IP session,...
