WLC 5508 Software Upgrade

Hi,  I think to upgrade the version of the controller, the current version is 7.0.116.0.All the access points are Air-LAP1041N-E-K9 What is the recommended version? Is there an upgrade path or can I upgrade directly?   Thanks,
