Sometimes some XP clients on VLAN1 cannot ping clients on VLAN2 and vice versa. When it occurs it can last up to about 10 minutes before it rectifies itself. VLAN's can ping all the clients in their own VLAN at that time also, but not the other VLAN....

yes i am sure and have confirmed from telco that it is a 256 k link only.one more thing from which i could confirm its capacity is that this link is getting terminated on a E1 link at one end where only 4 timeslots of 64 kbps each have been provided.
Even if i put a normal ping with a repeat count of 1000 without increasing byte size , still i see a lot of packet drops.load on the link that time is hardly 20 kbps whereas i have restricted it to 128 kbps, so it should not show any packet drops.see...
