Thanks for your reply and what you told me makes sense. LOL.. I was connecting via the blue console cable and a browser. I didn't want to connect it to the network yet as I have a working in production PIX firewall currently, so can't plug in to the ISP yet until this is configured. So, I will give the proper method of connection a try. Thanks.

I just received in my ASA5505 yesterday which will be used to replace an old Cisco PIX which is in production in our company. I read through the quick start, so I downloaded and installed Java to make sure I had the latest client and then connected the special Blue Console cable to the ASA5505 and my Laptop. I opened a browser and type in https://192.168.1.1/admin as stated in the quick user guide. I do not get a page to come up. The Power, Status, and Active lights are on. I do not have the ASA5505 plugged directly into the network; it is just connected via the cable. The laptop is connected to the network. I have been looking but not finding a missed step. How can I connect to the device to get this configuration setup? Our current PIX is actually a loaner as ours died (flash) a week ago, so need to get this up and running, correctly, soon. Browser is Internet Explorer 8 Laptop connected to ASA5505 is Windows 7 Pro – 64-Bit Any help is appreciated.
