I run windows XP via Bootcamp on my MacBook Air.

When I attempt to use AnyConnect to establish a VPN connection, connection fails with error: VPN client driver has encountered an error.

Any suggestions?

As a temporary workaround, try to free the memory by performing these steps:

  1. Disable the threat-detection.

  2. Disable svc compression.

  3. Reload the ASA.

Error: "The VPN client driver has encountered an error"

This is an error message obtained on the client machine when trying to connect to the AnyConnect.

Solution

In order to resolve this error, complete this procedure to manually set the AnyConnect VPN agent to Interactive:

  1. Right click on My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services > Select the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Agent.

  2. Right click Properties, then log on and select Allow service to interact with the desktop.

This sets the registry Type value DWORD to 110 (default is 010) for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vpnagent.

Note: If this is to be used, then the preference would be to use the .MST transform in this instance. This is because setting this manually using the following methods requires that this be set after every install/upgrade process. Therefore, the need to identify the application that is causing this.
