Hi
I am running a Window server 2008 in the cloud and need to connect using IPSEC to a server that is configured with CISCO ASA 5540.
What vpn client would be compatible?
How to get access to it?
What is the price?
We are a small company specialized in mobile applications. We have no contract with CISCO and are not a partner.
Also where is the doc online?
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
I am not to sure I understand your requirements , you have windows server that needs to connect to a far end server using the Cisco VPN client , and far end has ASA5540 firewall also acting as a VPN RA gateway ? if so who controls the far end ASA5540 firewall, they should have provided you with the VPN client version you could use and perhaps provide you with the software to connect to them, you can however try using any Cisco VPN client versoin 5.x .

You can try using the latest version release May 2011 http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/sw/secursw/ps2308/prod_release_notes_list.html

Generally you can aquire the software through active Service contract via CCO loging and be able to download the software , but since you indicated that you do not have one I would suggest to either contact the far end admin who manages the ASA5540 firewall see if they can provide you with the VPN client software , or you can also directly contact Cisco TAC services and see what they can do for you regarding downloading the VPN client http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/support/tsd_cisco_worldwide_contacts.html

Docs on Cisco VPN client software versions - configuration - release notes etc.. can be found here

Good luck

Hi Chris,
At this time, we do not currently test with Windows 2008 server.
We have no reason to believe that it will not work but we have not tested with this platform.
There are no current plans to support this platform with the IPSec VPN Client. The AnyConnect SSL VPN Client does support this platform.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Anisha
