Hello guys,
From the official datasheet of IR 829 router: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/829-industrial-router/datasheet-c78-734981.html, it does not mention much about the IPSEC throughput performance. It would be much appreciated if somebody could answer me the following questions:
1. Can this router accept VLAN interface as tunnel source for IPSEC static VTI?
2. What would be the max IPSEC throughput of IR 829 regardless of the remote peer performance?
Thanks in advance!
Steven

1. Yes, As long as the IP that you have assigned to the VLAN interface is reachable by the remote side of the tunnel and your interface configuration allows this VLAN towards your ISP or next hop, this should work fine.
2. As you say, this is very poorly documented. All I can find is a theoretical Download of 100Mbps and Upload of 50 Mbps. For an exact number I would suggest contacting Cisco TAC.

Thanks Marius for your explanation! A little update from Cisco reseller about the IPSEC performance of IR829:
IR829 supports up to 300Mbps through Wi-Fi. The single LTE model of the IR829 supports peak data rates of 100Mbps on the downlink and 50Mbps on the uplink over 4G. The IPSEC throughput is also approximately 90% of the maximum throughput.
The IPSEC throughput performance shall be 90% of the maximum throughput of the cellular even for GigabitEthernet wired port. Thus, it is about 90 Mbps for downlink and 45 Mbps for uplink.
