Does anyone know what the heck "VPNC ERR: Invalid Hostname" means?

Where do you see this message? What platform? What software version?

When do you see this it?

What is the problem you're trying to solve? (Or are you just curious what this means?)

Without further context, I'd guess that it is a vpn client that has trouble resolving the hostname of the peer it needs to connect to?

Herbert

Herb, you sure ask a lot of questions!  Just kidding.  I'm just curious.  I'm trying to do certificates between a ezvpn server and a ezvpn client and in my travels to that end I ran accross the message.  There doesn't seem to be a manual, book pamphlet, scribble on the back of an envelope of any of these types of messages.

I'm trained to ask questions before giving answers

Now, there is little I can add to my previous post - i.e. I guess you saw this on the ezvpn client, and that client is configured with the hostname of the ezvpn server (not the ip address) so it has to do a DNS lookup, and this DNS lookup somehow failed when you saw this message?

If you're really curious to know more, I'd have to ask more questions I'm afraid , like show use your config, what other messages did you see (in addition to the previous questions).

ciao

Herbert

Nah, I just thought there might be some hidden book or pamplet.  Too bad, but thanks for responding.
