I was doing some testing of internet speeds and noticed that the download speed was correct but the upload speed was showing half of what it is supposed to be.
I did the same test going straight out the firewall and not through the WSA and upload speeds are as expected, no issues.
Would web caching causing that much effect on speeds? Does the WSA do something different on upload traffic then it does on download traffic?

what is the version that you are running? if you are running version 7.5.1, there is a defect (CSCui45649) for the upload performance degraded.

In our case it was the Data Security Policy. If you have it set to monitor everything it will be slower.
To test you can create a new policy and good pass and not monitor and you should see normal upload speeds.

when the categories are being set to 'monitor' means that it will be passed to perform further scanning such as reputation score scanning, object scanning, etc and in general will cause bit of delay since it will need to be further scanned and depending on the scanning verdict it will then perform the action.
When you set to "allow", the request is not being further scan and it will go out right away(allow).
