Hello,
Our company will do a rebranding in the near future and change our product name.
I'm looking for a way to change our bot username to reflect the new name.
How can I do this?
The option is not available from the developer portal.
I don't think creating a new bot is a good solution.
It would mean the current bot will not work anymore for people already using it.
Thanks

The bot's username cannot be changed once it was created. That's also noted in the form in the application list. You may just change the bot's name.

I know it's not possible, I know it's written in the form.
What's the solution, then?
I guess I'm not the first one to ask for this, and maybe you have another solution than recreate one and abandon the other one?
Thanks

Hi @dupontb,
Maybe this can be handled by Cisco TAC tackling it in a different angle, renaming is no go do the current bot, that’s clear, maybe you create a new bot with the new name, ask TAC if they can hardcode the old Bot API key to the new bot (that wasn’t listed as not possible in the portal.
In this way you get your rebranding (bot with a new name) and all your code can stay pointing to the same API key the old bot had. It will mean for sure that your old bot will stop working but on the old bot you can refer the users to the new one, making the transition as smooth as possible.
Hopefully TAC says that’s possible, as this would be a backend manouver in the Cisco cloud and only Cisco can do it.
