BD Pervasive Route's next-hop

Hi community,

What is the next-hop for the pervasive route? I found that it's a loopback on one of my Spines (but not on all 4). Is there a name for that loopback?

(Like, there's a loopback for PTEP, a loopback for VTEP that is the same on vPC peer, Spine anycast proxy VTEP, etc.)? I suppose it's the anycast proxy VTEP for v4?

Hi @Timothy ACI

It's the anycast IP of the spines. Example from my lab:

Leaf101# show ip route 172.16.110.0/24 vrf X
172.16.110.0/24, ubest/mbest: 1/0, attached, direct, pervasive
    *via 10.0.200.66%overlay-1, [1/0], 5d15h, static, tag 4294967294
         recursive next hop: 10.0.200.66/32%overlay-1

Spine201# show ip interface vrf overlay-1 | grep -B 1 10.0.200.66
lo1, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 7, mode: anycast-v4
IP address: 10.0.200.66, IP subnet: 10.0.200.66/32

You can use "show ip interface vrf overlay-1" command to see the names of all IP interfaces on your spines.

Spine201# show ip interface vrf overlay-1 | grep mode:
lo0, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 6, mode: ptep
lo1, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 7, mode: anycast-v4
lo2, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 8, mode: proxy-v4
lo3, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 9, mode: anycast-mac
lo4, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 10, mode: proxy-mac
lo5, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 11, mode: anycast-v6
lo6, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 12, mode: proxy-v6
lo7, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 13, mode: anycast-mac,external
lo8, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 14, mode: anycast-v4,external
lo9, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 15, mode: anycast-v6,external
lo13, Interface status: protocol-up/link-up/admin-up, iod: 95, mode: dci-mcast-hrep

Stay safe,

Sergiu
